Bone meal
The ideal substitute for bone feeding
Bone meal is a natural product obtained from dried bones. It is usually used in barfeeding when, for example, raw meaty bones cannot be fed due to intolerances or illnesses, or the dog simply gorges too much. Just like whole bones, bone meal has an ideal calcium to phosphorus ratio while maintaining high bioavailability. This means that the ground bones can be utilized very well by dogs and cats, but put much less strain on the digestive system than when feeding whole bones.
Calcium: one of the most important nutrients
Calcium is the most abundant mineral in the body and therefore one of the most important. It contributes to the healthy formation of teeth and bones, helps muscles contract, blood clot and maintain healthy heart and nerve function. When barfeeding, dogs and cats normally absorb the necessary dose of calcium through bone meals. However, if your four-legged friend can't tolerate raw bones or you're afraid to feed him whole bones, bone meal is the perfect alternative.
Bone meal in every phase of life
As a natural supplement, bone meal can be fed to growing puppies and young dogs to help promote healthy skeletal growth, as well as to seniors to support aging joints. In puppy age, pregnancy and during lactation, the need for calcium is particularly high, but is easily met due to the already higher feed quantity in a balanced BARF feeding.
